Ground Transportation

If renting a car for your trip through Yellowstone Country is what you have in mind, you will find Avis and Budget rent-a-car agencies have just the transportation you need for your adventure. Both agencies are conveniently located in the Yellowstone Airport terminal.

Pilot Services

For adventurous types wishing to fly or charter their own aircraft, Yellowstone Airport offers accurate weather forecasts; safe, non-mountainous approaches into an 8000’ long runway; and an ILS landing system accommodating private aircraft from a single engine Cessna to a Boeing 747. This airport is non-towered, however the common traffic advisory frequency is 123.0. The airport is fully lighted for night-time use with IFR lead-in and approach lighting as well.

Our local FBO, Yellowstone Aviation, can accommodate most any of your needs and provides both general aviation and jet fueling. Tie downs are available for aircraft for the price of $4.00 per night. No temporary or overnight aircraft hangaring services are available. Aircraft landing fees are listed below.

GA under 11,000 lbs - Free
Commercial under 11,000 lbs - $5.00
All aircraft 11,000 – 31,249 lbs - $25.00
All aircraft 31,250 and above - $25.00 + 80¢ per 1,000 lbs over

For those of you wishing to get right at the outdoors, the Yellowstone Airport offers a pilots wilderness campground second to none with running water, split and stacked firewood, complimentary bicycles and even hot showers within walking distance to the general aviation ramp.

Food

Feeling hungry? Try Aspen Grove, a very popular full service restaurant conveniently located in the airport terminal. In addition to a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, Aspen Grove also serves Sunday breakfast buffets, daily specials, and spirits. They offer catering, private dining, and have party space available.

Aspen Grove is open daily from mid May through September. Hours of operation are from 9a.m. 9p.m. Reservations are accepted. Please call 406.646.7255 to confirm hours of operation.

Hanger Space

Winter Use of the Airport

During the winter months, when the Yellowstone Airport is closed, the facility is leased out to Nevada Automotive Tire Corporation (NATC). NATC is a Nevada-based engineering and testing firm specializing in tire tread and wear testing. NATC tests snow and cold conditions on a wide range of other products as well. In order to preserve the specially groomed snow for testing, and in the interest of safety, winter-time flight operations at Yellowstone Airport cease, unless the flight operator receives prior written consent from either airport management or NATC.
